Pakistani-Origin Cricketer Neema Sheikh Becomes First to Receive Scotland’s National Sports Scholarship

**Lahore (Qudrat Daily / Dunya News)** — Pakistani-origin Scottish women’s cricketer **Neema Sheikh** has made history by becoming the **first cricketer to be awarded the Scotland National Sports Scholarship**.

According to **Cricket Scotland**, Neema Sheikh has been selected for the prestigious *Winning Students 100 Scotland National Sports Scholarship*. She is the first-ever player from Scottish cricket to receive this recognition.

Cricket Scotland stated that more than **1,700 student-athletes** are currently being supported across Scottish sports, with scholarships granted based on academic qualifications and sporting excellence to help them progress successfully.

Neema Sheikh is currently **studying Accountancy and Finance at the University of Glasgow**. This year, **105 student-athletes from 31 different disciplines** have been awarded the scholarship, which aims to help them achieve their goals in both academics and sports.

Expressing her joy, Neema Sheikh said, *“It’s a great honor to be the first cricketer—male or female—to receive this scholarship. It will help me advance further in both my game and my studies.”*

Neema Sheikh made her **international debut in 2023** and has since represented **Scotland in 2 One-Day Internationals and 7 T20 matches**.
