Broken Roads, Poor Sewage, and Garbage Piles Make Life Miserable for Quetta Residents

Quetta: The provincial capital, Quetta, is facing severe infrastructure problems due to poor urban planning and inactive local government bodies. Most of the city’s roads are damaged, with deep potholes causing daily traffic accidents. The biggest issue remains the inadequate sewage and drainage system.

Even light rainfall turns major roads into waterlogged areas, and rainwater often enters homes. Additionally, piles of garbage in various parts of the city have created serious environmental and health hazards, increasing the risk of pollution and the spread of diseases in residential areas.

Residents have protested strongly, demanding basic civic facilities. They urged the Saaf Quetta initiative and Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC) to activate their staff and machinery, conduct regular cleanliness drives, and completely overhaul the city’s sewage system.

Citizens also called on the provincial government to focus on local governance and elections rather than spending billions on beautification projects while ignoring essential infrastructure needs.
