Government Decides to Provide Affordable Meat to Public in Lahore

LAHORE: The government has decided to take measures to **provide affordable meat to the public** in Lahore.

According to *Daily Jang*, sources in the **Ministry of Production** revealed that a proposal has been put forward to **temporarily ban the export of mutton, beef, eggs, and chicken** in order to stabilize domestic prices.

Officials stated that the recent **floods have severely affected agriculture and livestock**, leading to a sharp increase in meat prices, which has also impacted chicken rates.

Currently, **no city in Pakistan**, including Lahore, is selling meat at official government rates. Mutton is being sold between **Rs 2,500 and Rs 3,000 per kilogram**, despite the official price being **Rs 1,600 per kilogram**. Similarly, beef, officially priced at **Rs 800 per kilogram**, is being sold at significantly higher rates.

Sources said that **imposing a temporary export ban** is expected to **reduce the prices of mutton, beef, and chicken**, ensuring that the public can access meat at more affordable rates.
