Pakistan Says 25 Militants Killed in Cross-Border Operations in Afghanistan
Pakistan has claimed that its security forces killed 25 militants during operations in Afghanistan’s Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar provinces following a recent surge in terrorist attacks inside the country.
Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar said in a statement posted on X that the operations targeted hideouts of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and what he referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij” in border regions.
According to the minister, Pakistani security forces also carried out an intelligence-based operation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, killing a total of 29 militants.
Tarar said that on June 28, security forces conducted another operation in Bajaur, where militant commander Khan Farosh, also known as Zabal, was killed along with three other militants. He claimed that the slain militants belonged to the India-backed proxy group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar.
The minister further stated that operations in Afghanistan’s Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar provinces resulted in the deaths of 25 militants. He added that large caches of weapons and ammunition stored at militant hideouts were also destroyed.

Tarar said that counterterrorism operations under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam are continuing against militant groups and “Fitna al-Khawarij.” He stressed that the operations would continue until terrorist attacks in Pakistan, allegedly supported and financed from abroad, are brought to an end.
The claims made by the Pakistani government have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate official response from the Afghan authorities.
