PM Shehbaz: Pakistan Defeated India in Four-Day War, U.S. and Saudi Ties Strengthened

New Jersey:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the Pakistan Armed Forces defeated India in just four days, from May 6 to May 10, praising the nation’s military for their bravery and divine support.
Speaking to the media in New Jersey, the premier credited **Field Marshal Asim Munir** for wisely leading the forces during the conflict. He said Pakistani forces shot down seven Indian aircraft, carried out drone strikes in Pathankot and other locations, and left the enemy “stunned.”
Shehbaz added that on May 10, U.S. Secretary of State and Senator Marco Rubio informed Field Marshal Munir that India had requested a ceasefire. *“I said then — we have won the war, their planes are down, their minds are shaken. We should accept the ceasefire,”* he recalled.
#### Meeting with Trump “Encouraging”
The prime minister described his meeting with **former U.S. President Donald Trump** as encouraging, saying that discussions covered the economy, counterterrorism, minerals, artificial intelligence, IT, and cryptocurrency. He said Washington is ready to invest in trade and technology sectors, while both sides agreed that mineral pricing and trade deals will be based on mutual interests.
#### Warm Welcome in Saudi Arabia
Shehbaz also highlighted his recent **visit to Saudi Arabia**, calling the reception the most remarkable he had seen in 40 years.
#### Inflation Brought Down to Single Digit
On the economy, the PM claimed that inflation, which was at **32% when he took office**, has now fallen to single digits within 18 months. Similarly, the policy rate has dropped from **22.5% to 11%**.
He praised overseas Pakistanis, calling them “great ambassadors,” noting that they sent **$38.5 billion in remittances in 2024–25**. He said Pakistan’s economy is now stable at the micro level.
