Speaker Punjab Assembly Decides to Form Empowered Committee to Assess Flood Damages
Lahore: Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has announced the formation of an empowered committee to assess the damages caused by recent floods across the province. The committee will include members from both the government and the opposition benches.
In addition to damage assessment, the committee will formulate recommendations for flood prevention and evaluate losses incurred in the agricultural sector, including potential compensation measures.
The Punjab Assembly Secretariat is currently working on the Terms of Reference (ToRs) for the committee. Experts will be invited to provide insights, and the committee will also prepare rehabilitation recommendations for the flood-affected population.
Furthermore, the committee will receive briefings on rescue operations and summon key officials including the Secretary Agriculture, Secretary Livestock, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Director General of Punjab Disaster Management Authority, and the Secretary Finance.
