Decision Pending on Proposal to Breach Motorway to Ease Floodwaters in Jalalpur Pirwala

Multan:Authorities in Jalalpur Pirwala tehsil have yet to reach a decision on a proposal to breach a section of the motorway to reduce floodwaters.

According to the Deputy Commissioner, the committee formed to assess the situation, including experts and officials, has been unable to finalize a recommendation. The committee continues to monitor the flood twice daily, and any decision on creating a breach will be based on expert advice.

Meanwhile, the Multan-Sukkur M-5 Motorway near Jalalpur Pirwala remains closed for the seventh consecutive day due to flooding. To prevent further damage, authorities are reinforcing the affected sections by placing stones, while traffic is being diverted to alternative routes.
