Ravi River Protective Dyke Breaches in Shakargarh, Several Villages Submerged

SHAKARGARH:Flooding caused by continuous rains and the release of water from India has led to a breach in the protective dyke of the Ravi River at Bhiku Chak, submerging multiple areas.
According to rescue officials, the breach has inundated Bhiku Chak, Hirali, Mumka, Nowshera, and Nogaza villages, while Nangil, Baira, Nanowal, and Barah Manga have also been submerged.
Meanwhile, floodwaters have entered several villages, including Chanda Singh Wala, while in Zafarwal, the flood torrent from Nullah Dek damaged a portion of the Hanjli Bridge, cutting off road links to dozens of villages.
The Flood Forecasting Division in Lahore reported that the Chenab River at Head Marala is experiencing a “very high flood” with an inflow of 696,534 cusecs. Similarly, Sutlej River at Ganda Singh Wala is at an extremely high flood level with a recorded flow of 245,236 cusecs.
At Jassar, the Ravi River has also reached “very high flood” levels, with the water flow exceeding 202,000 cusecs.
