Indian Hackers Exploit Pahalgam Incident for Cyber Attacks; Cabinet Division Issues Cybersecurity Advisory

ISLAMABAD:In the wake of the **Pahalgam incident**, **Indian hackers** have reportedly intensified efforts to access sensitive **government and defense data**, prompting the **Cabinet Division** to issue an **urgent cybersecurity advisory**.
The advisory warns that cyber attackers are using **malware-laden files** disguised under the name of the Pahalgam attack. These files are typically spread via **phishing emails** and **WhatsApp messages**, potentially targeting key government systems.
According to the Cabinet Division:
* The **malware virus** can **silently extract data and images** from infected devices.
* Government departments have been advised **not to open suspicious emails** or attachments from unknown sources.
* All attachments must be **scanned with antivirus software** before opening.
* Suspicious emails should be **immediately reported to the respective IT administrators**.
The advisory also emphasizes the importance of:

* Using **strong and regularly updated passwords**.
