Salman Akram Raja Decides to Step Down as PTI Secretary General to Focus on Legal Work

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has announced his decision to step down from his party position to concentrate fully on legal matters.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, Raja stated that he would formally request party founder Imran Khan to relieve him of his responsibilities. However, he affirmed that he will continue to offer pro bono legal services to the party.

Raja revealed that he had already submitted a request last Tuesday through Advocate Ali Bukhari, asking Imran Khan to allow him to step down in light of the unjust punishments being handed to party members, which require his full legal attention. Despite this, Imran Khan had initially rejected his request. Raja expressed gratitude for the trust the party chairman had placed in him.

Clarifying his background, Raja said he is neither a traditional politician, landlord, nor industrialist, but someone from a modest family who has withstood personal and political attacks both inside and outside the party.

“I gave up a thriving legal career and financial stability to stand with the party, and I have no regrets,” he added.

Raja mentioned that a recent incident compelled him to make this clear and firm decision, emphasizing that his life is an open book, and he cannot tolerate any compromise on principles, intellectual honesty, or financial integrity.
