Forced Disappearance of Dr. Dad Shah: Family Announces Protest, Plans to Block M-8 CPEC Highway on August 12

Turbat:The family of Dr. Dad Shah, a medical technician at Jusk BHU Hospital and resident of Tajaban Sangabad near Hoshab in Kech district, has announced a protest sit-in and the closure of the M-8 CPEC highway on Tuesday, August 12, demanding his safe recovery.

Addressing a press conference at the Turbat Press Club, the family stated that Dr. Dad Shah, who has been serving at the Basic Health Unit since 2017 and is a registered member of the Pakistan Paramedical Association Kech chapter, was allegedly picked up by security personnel on August 4 at around 2:15 PM while returning home after duty with a colleague. He was reportedly detained at the Kech Kor bridge checkpoint.

Despite a week passing since his disappearance, the family says he has neither been produced in any court nor have they or the Health Department received any official notification of his detention. The family expressed grave concerns for his safety and well-being.

“If any charges exist against him, he should be presented before a court of law. Enforced disappearance is a violation of the Constitution and legal norms,” the family emphasized.

They warned that if Dr. Dad Shah is not released or brought to light by August 11, they will move forward with a full blockade of the M-8 highway at Tajaban on Tuesday. They appealed to political and social organizations, human rights groups, lawyers, students, and the general public to join them in solidarity for what they called a matter of fundamental human rights.

The family also issued a public advisory to transporters and business communities traveling between Turbat and Quetta, urging them to plan ahead and use alternate routes on August 12 to avoid disruptions due to the scheduled protest.
