Robberies and Motorcycle Snatchings Surge in Quetta; Citizens Fear for Safety as Police Remain Inactive

Quetta: Criminal activity in Quetta has reached alarming levels, with armed gangs openly operating while the police and relevant authorities appear largely inactive. A series of robberies and motorcycle snatching incidents over the past week has left residents fearful and frustrated.
In the jurisdiction of Saryab and Kachhi Bag police stations, over **10 major incidents** were reported in just one week. These include armed home invasions, snatching of motorcycles at gunpoint, and street robberies targeting cash and mobile phones.
One notable incident involved **18 to 20 armed men** who entered the house of Muhammad Akbar, stealing gold jewelry, cash, and five mobile phones before escaping. Similarly, two unidentified armed men snatched a motorcycle from Dildar Khan on Raisani Road, while three other armed men took a motorcycle from Khuda-e-Rahim on Arbab Karam Khan Road. Several other residents, including students and government employees, also reported thefts of motorcycles and cash.
In Kachhi Bag, armed gangs continued to operate brazenly. Muhammad Tahir, a manager at New Khan Coach Company, was robbed of **Rs 300,000 and his motorcycle** in broad daylight. Other incidents involved armed assailants snatching motorcycles from residents on Link Road, Lango Chowk, and Saryab Road.
Eight cases of motorcycle snatching were officially registered in the jurisdiction of Khalq Shaheed Police Station in a single week, while multiple other incidents were reported informally. Citizens complain that armed robbers are striking in broad daylight with little to no police presence.
Residents have urged the district administration, police, and law enforcement agencies to take **immediate emergency action**, secure Saryab and Kachhi Bag areas, and implement effective strategies to curb crime. They warn that if the situation persists, lawlessness and insecurity in Quetta are likely to worsen further.
