Chief Justice Yahya Afridi Departs for Hajj, Justice Muneeb Akhtar to Take Oath as Acting Chief Justice

Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi has departed for Hajj early this morning. According to sources, he is expected to return on the fourth day of Eid.
In his absence, Justice Muneeb Akhtar will take oath as the Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan. He ranks third in the Supreme Court’s seniority list.
The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 PM today and will be held in the Committee Room of the Judges Block at the Supreme Court.
With Senior Puisne Judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah also currently abroad, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail will administer the oath to Justice Muneeb Akhtar.
