Quetta:A workshop aimed at the promotion and development of Balochi language and literature was recently conducted at the Balochi Academy Complex in Quetta, under the auspices of the Daily Qudrat newspaper. The event saw participation from representatives of various literary institutions including Balochistan Academy Turbat, Syed Hashmi Reference Library, Milir, Azat Academy Panjgur, Nasir Kabdani Labzanki Diwan, Institute of Balochistan Gwadar, and Raskoh Literary Diwan Nushki.

During the workshop, discussions were held on the challenges and obstacles hindering the progress of Balochi language and literature. Participants put forward recommendations to foster the growth and promotion of Balochi through concerted efforts and modern scientific methods.

Literary organization leaders emphasized the need for the Government of Balochistan to take serious steps towards preserving and advancing the language, history, culture, and traditions of the Balochi populace. They expressed concern over the disparity in financial grants, noting substantial allocations to non-functional literary organizations while neglecting those actively working for the promotion of Balochi language and literature for years.

The workshop, organized by the Balochi Academy, underscored collaborative efforts among literary institutions and advocated for initiatives such as developing Balochi as a subject from primary to secondary education levels, and ensuring its inclusion in school curricula.

Furthermore, participants called for the establishment of a coordination committee comprising representatives from literary institutions to facilitate cohesive efforts, mutual cooperation, and decision-making aimed at advancing Balochi language development in alignment with modern digital demands.

The consensus among literary leaders highlighted a commitment to practical efforts aimed at preserving Balochi literary heritage, including the creation of standardized Balochi script, dictionaries, glossaries, and digitalization efforts.

The workshop concluded with a unified resolve to continue concerted efforts towards the promotion and development of Balochi language and literature, urging sustained support and proactive measures from the government and relevant stakeholders.
