Quetta:Jafar Khan Mandokhail, Governor of Balochistan, has urged the Vice Chancellor of the University of Gwadar, Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, to conduct research on the vibrant possibilities of the province’s extensive coastal belt for the blue economy, modern maritime industry development, and promotion of marine and coastal tourism.
During a meeting on Thursday at the Governor House in Quetta, Governor Balochistan expressed regret over the unfortunate reality that Balochistan has not fully capitalized on its more than 700 kilometers long coastal strip. He emphasized the necessity for the University of Gwadar to integrate Blue Economy Revenue Generation as a mandatory component of its strategic plan.
Governor Balochistan appreciated the efforts of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir and his team, encouraging them to expand initiatives aimed at teaching modern skills to the youth of Gwadar and surrounding areas. He underscored the need for providing conducive educational environments for students and enhancing university rankings through effective measures.
Highlighting the importance of a grand seminar on Blue Economy and maritime tourism, Governor Balochistan stressed that such an event would assist in defining future political and economic priorities for the region. He assured that he would soon visit all three public sector universities in Makran Division—Turbot, Panjgur, and Gwadar—to further strengthen educational endeavors.
The Governor concluded the meeting by receiving the annual report of the University of Gwadar for the year 2023.
