Punjab to Equip Habitual Criminals and Fourth Schedule Individuals with Tracking Devices

Experts Recommend Installation of Micro Tracking Chips for Continuous Monitoring of Criminals

Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to equip habitual criminals and individuals listed in the Fourth Schedule with tracking devices. According to the spokesperson for the provincial home department, this significant decision has been made to enhance the surveillance of criminal elements and ensure law and order in the region.
The decision involves the provision of tracking devices to habitual criminals and those listed in the Fourth Schedule, which will allow authorities to closely monitor their movements. The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), the Parole Department, and the Crime Control Department will be allocated these devices.
The Punjab Home Department is distributing 1,500 available tracking devices among law enforcement agencies. Of these, the newly established Crime Control Department will receive 500 tracking bands, while 900 will be allocated to the CTD and 100 to the Parole Department.
With these tracking bands, authorities will be able to monitor the movements of criminals in real-time. Additionally, the Secretary of the Punjab Home Department has issued directives for the import of advanced, state-of-the-art tracking devices.
Officials emphasized that globally recognized surveillance techniques will be adopted to keep criminal elements under constant monitoring. Experts have recommended the installation of micro tracking chips to ensure continuous oversight of these individuals.
