Chief Justice Balochistan High Court Visits Quetta District Jail, Announces Reforms and Improvements

Quetta:In a surprise visit to **District Jail Quetta**, **Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court**, **Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar**, inspected various facilities within the prison, including the **hospital**, **langer khana** (kitchen), **tailor shop**, **library**, and **school**. He expressed satisfaction with the overall conditions of the prison and its facilities.

During his visit, Chief Justice Kakar announced several important initiatives to improve the living conditions of the inmates. These included the provision of **warm jackets**, **gizers**, **heaters**, **sewing machines**, and **computers** to the prisoners. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that prisoners have access to basic comforts and educational resources to help with their rehabilitation.

In addition to these announcements, the Chief Justice issued orders for the **immediate resolution** of the cases of Afghan prisoners, directing that their cases be decided swiftly and that they be repatriated to Afghanistan. He also directed that **five crore rupees** be allocated for the provision of medicines to all provincial jails and that **300 new barracks** be constructed for the accommodation of prisoners as soon as possible.

The Chief Justice expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the **District Jail Quetta** administration and praised their efforts in managing the facility. He also met with the inmates and issued instructions for the immediate resolution of their grievances.

During the visit, **Superintendent Jail Yaseen Baloch** briefed the Chief Justice on the jail’s operational challenges and the available facilities. The briefing covered the jail’s issues as well as suggestions for future improvements.

The visit was attended by several prominent figures, including **Additional Chief Secretary Home**, **DIG Jail Ziaullah Tareen**, **DIG Police**, **Deputy Commissioner Quetta**, **Saeed bin Asad**, **Chairman of Jail Reform Committee**, **Retired Justice Nazir Ahmed Lango**, and other committee members. The event underscored the ongoing efforts of the Balochistan government and judiciary to improve prison conditions and provide better facilities for prisoners.
