Islamabad:In a significant move aimed at addressing the rising demand for mobile phones and creating local employment opportunities, the Punjab government has signed an agreement with China to establish a mobile phone manufacturing plant in the province.

According to media reports, the agreement between the Punjab government and Chinese mobile company *Vivo* will see the establishment of a local mobile manufacturing facility. The deal was signed by Punjab’s Minister for Industry and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafeeh Hussain, and Mr. Liuk, CEO of Vivo.

Chaudhry Shafeeh Hussain, currently part of a delegation led by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on an official visit to China, visited the Vivo mobile phone manufacturing plant in Shenzhen. During the visit, he observed various stages of the manufacturing process, gaining insight into the technology and operations involved in mobile phone production.

The CEO of Vivo highlighted that the company’s decision to set up a manufacturing plant in Punjab would not only meet the growing demand for mobile phones but also boost local job creation and economic development in the region.

The agreement between the Department of Industry and Commerce Punjab and the Chinese mobile company marks a milestone in the province’s efforts to develop its manufacturing sector and contribute to the overall economic growth. The move is expected to benefit the local economy by producing mobile phones domestically, reducing reliance on imports, and creating employment opportunities for skilled labor in the region.
