Ramiz Raja’s Inappropriate Comments on Shaheen Afridi’s Injury Spark Outrage Among Fans
Islamabad: Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Ramiz Raja, has come under fire for making inappropriate remarks regarding Shaheen Afridi’s injury during commentary. The comments have angered fans, with many criticizing the former cricketer for his choice of words.
During Pakistan’s 7-wicket defeat to South Africa in the third and final T20I match in Centurion, the game saw a concerning moment when Shaheen Afridi, bowling his 17th over, was struck on the neck/shoulder area by a shot from South African batter Rassie van der Dussen. Despite being visibly in pain, Afridi completed his over before being assessed.
While commenting on the incident, Ramiz Raja remarked, “At least his face is safe, not sure if that’s a good thing or not.” This comment quickly sparked outrage among fans, who took to social media to express their displeasure. Many questioned the appropriateness of his words, with some asking whether the commentator was concerned about the bowler’s injury or something else.
“How could he make such a statement while a player is injured?” one fan wrote on Twitter, while others expressed concern for Shaheen’s well-being and wished him a speedy recovery.
Shaheen Afridi had earlier conceded 37 runs off his 4-over spell in the second T20I without taking a wicket.
Ramiz Raja, known for his candid commentary, has often courted controversy, but this remark has struck a nerve among the cricketing community.
