Former PTI Leader Javed Badar Apologizes to Nawaz Sharif in Public Letter
Islamabad:Javed Badar, a former leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has written a public apology letter to the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif. In the letter, Badar expressed regret for his previous actions, which included spreading false allegations, insults, and participating in propaganda against Sharif, his family, and his party. He asked for forgiveness, referring to his past actions as the result of ignorance and misguided behavior.
Badar confessed that he had spent more than 10 valuable years of his life working with Imran Khan, during which time he contributed to the misguidance of the Pakistani nation, particularly the youth, through political manipulation. He admitted to creating false narratives, using the media to attack Nawaz Sharif’s character, and playing a part in the smear campaign against the former Prime Minister. He further acknowledged that these efforts led to the unjust seizure of power and the framing of false cases against Nawaz Sharif, which resulted in his imprisonment. However, Badar also noted that “divine justice prevailed” and Nawaz Sharif regained his honor and status, while he and his colleagues faced social humiliation.
In his apology, Javed Badar also criticized PTI for poisoning the political atmosphere of Pakistan and sowing discord among the youth, warning that the consequences of this political turmoil would be felt for years to come. He pointed out that he had left Imran Khan’s camp after the latter appointed Usman Buzdar as Chief Minister of Punjab and allowed his wife, Bushra Bibi, to engage in corruption. Badar claimed that when he raised objections within the party, he was subjected to pressure from the FIA and even experienced gunfire at his home by PTI-affiliated goons.
Badar also revealed that he had been forced to leave the country due to the tyranny he faced under PTI’s rule, and returned just three months ago. He criticized the PTI government for mismanaging the national economy, depleting the treasury, and damaging Pakistan’s international relations. Badar acknowledged the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, especially under the guidance of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in restoring stability and improving Pakistan’s foreign relations.
While apologizing for his past actions, Badar also took the opportunity to commend the current leadership for their role in stabilizing the country’s political and economic situation.
It is important to note that during his time in PTI, Javed Badar had filed a request with NAB regarding financial irregularities in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) under the leadership of Najam Sethi. He accused Sethi of failing to make any financial reports public since assuming the position of PCB Chairman and demanded that NAB take immediate action against him. Badar also called for Sethi’s name to be placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) to prevent him from fleeing the country.
On July 6, 2019, Badar filed a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, alleging corruption within the cricket board. In response, the Deputy Commissioner instructed an inquiry into the matter and directed the PCB to submit a report.
