CTD Thwarts Plot to Attack Key Government Building in Lahore, 11 Dangerous Terrorists Arrested

Lahore: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has foiled a major terror plot in Lahore, arresting 11 highly dangerous terrorists linked to several extremist groups, including Fitan al-Khawarij. The terrorists were planning to target a key government building in the city.
According to a spokesperson for the CTD, the arrests were made as part of an intelligence-based operation carried out across multiple districts in Punjab. The operation resulted in the capture of 34 terrorists this month alone, following 242 intelligence-driven raids in Lahore, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Narowal, Sargodha, Chakwal, Jhelum, Attock, Gujrat, Bhakkar, and Rahim Yar Khan.
The arrested terrorists were found in possession of firearms, explosives, and detailed blueprints of government buildings, which included plans for their intended attack. Among the arrested were individuals identified as Zubair, Aslam, Abu Bakr, Fida Hussain, Fahad Saleem, Saifullah, Nafees, Israr, Haji Shah, and Abdullah.
The CTD’s spokesperson confirmed that during the month, 7,536 combing operations were conducted, leading to the arrest of 637 suspects and interrogation of over 235,000 individuals. These proactive measures have helped in averting several potential terror attacks in the region.
The successful operations highlight the effectiveness of intelligence-based policing and the ongoing efforts to neutralize terrorist threats in Punjab.
