The Mysterious Desert Where Electronic Devices Stop Working

ISLAMABAD – Mexico’s “Zone of Silence” is a mysterious desert region where, upon setting foot, mobile phones, radio signals, and satellite systems stop working, while direction-finding compasses begin spinning wildly.

The place gained worldwide fame in July 1970 when a US Air Force Athena rocket veered hundreds of miles off course and mysteriously crashed into the center of this desert. Numerous meteorites that have fallen here and the strange lights shining in the sky further fuel stories of extraterrestrial creatures linked to this region.

Although people call it a magical place, according to geologists, the heavy deposits of natural magnetic iron (magnetite) beneath the ground are the real cause of all this disruption to electronic waves.
