PkMAP Condemns Swat Suicide Attack, Calls for Review of Counterterrorism Policies

Quetta: The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkMAP) has strongly condemned the suicide attack in Kabal Chowk, Swat, describing it as an assault on humanity, peace, and democratic values.

In a statement issued by the party’s central secretariat, PkMAP expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. According to the statement, the attack occurred during a public gathering held to promote peace in Swat, where Pashtunkhwa Students Organization Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zonal Secretary Ghairat Khan Yousafzai was addressing participants. The party claimed that a suicide bomber detonated explosives at the gathering, resulting in multiple civilian and police casualties.

The statement further alleged that decades of flawed security policies, the patronage of militant groups, and armed intervention in Afghanistan had contributed to instability across the region, with Afghan and Pashtun communities bearing the greatest human and economic costs.

PkMAP also stated that terrorism had displaced millions of people over the past two decades in Swat, Waziristan, Bajaur, and other former tribal districts, causing widespread destruction to businesses and public life. The party argued that current state policies had failed to establish lasting peace in the region.

The party called for a comprehensive review of counterterrorism policies, urging authorities to take indiscriminate action against all militant groups, ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property, and adopt effective measures to restore lasting peace, political stability, and economic recovery in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The statement concluded by once again expressing sympathy with the families of those killed in the Swat suicide attack and praying for the swift recovery of the injured.
