Mike Hesson Targets Balanced Squad for Third Test Against England

BIRMINGHAM:Pakistan’s interim red-ball coach Mike Hesson says the team’s main objective is to build a balanced squad for the third Test against England, acknowledging that the past few days have been challenging due to players arriving and leaving the squad.

Speaking at a press conference during Pakistan’s practice session in Birmingham, Hesson said the players are now fully focused on the upcoming Test.

Hesson clarified that he is currently serving as the **interim red-ball coach**. He said he had been in Japan preparing for the Asian Games when he was asked to take temporary charge of the red-ball team after arriving in Lahore.

He also explained that he is not part of the red-ball selection process, adding that his permanent role is associated with the white-ball team and its selection.

Hesson said the goal is to assemble a balanced squad for the third Test. He added that several young players have joined the team and could strengthen Pakistan’s bowling attack. He said he was unaware of the reasons behind the release of some players from the squad.

Praising Mohammad Abbas, Hesson said the fast bowler had produced excellent performances during the tour of England. He added that he had already worked with some members of Pakistan’s red-ball squad.

“Players are certainly disappointed, but we have to look forward,” Hesson said, emphasizing the need to remain focused on the upcoming Test.
