Islamabad Police Takes Strict Measures Ahead of PTI’s November 24 Protest
Islamabad:Ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest scheduled for November 24, the Islamabad Police have stepped up their preparations to prevent the demonstration. The Islamabad administration has completed its plans to halt the PTI protest, ensuring that no disruptions occur in the capital city.
In a move that has attracted attention, a video surfaced on social media showing Islamabad Police officers marching and chanting slogans like “Takbeer Allahu Akbar” and “Pakistan Zindabad” (Pakistan Long Live). The video quickly went viral, leading PTI supporters to claim that the police had organized a rally in response to the party’s protest.
Social Media Reactions and Criticism
The video sparked a wave of commentary online, with PTI supporters questioning the actions of the police. Ali Imran Abbasi, a social media user, wrote, “Every citizen has the right to peaceful protest. Is the federal police preparing for a war with an enemy?”
Journalist Imran Khan commented, “Finally, the police have proven that they are more of a political wing than a law enforcement agency. Crime rates in Islamabad have soared, yet they are organizing rallies against a political party.”
A PTI Islamabad official tweeted, “On one hand, crime rates in Islamabad have reached unprecedented levels, and on the other, the city’s political police are staging mock walks to intimidate PTI workers. Politicians’ homes are being attacked, their families harassed, and innocent citizens are being mistreated. Meanwhile, the police should focus on their actual duties, which they are paid for, to address crime rather than making a mockery of themselves.”
Public Debate and Criticism of Police Actions
In response to the video, social media user Anam Sheikh humorously questioned, “Are they heading to conquer Kashmir?” suggesting that the show of force by the police seemed disproportionate to the situation.
The Islamabad Police, however, responded to the criticism by posting a clarification on their official social media account. The police shared the video and explained that it was part of a walk aimed at promoting peace and unity in the city. According to the police statement, senior officers, traffic police, Dolphin Squad, and personnel from across the district participated in the walk to express their commitment to maintaining law and order. The message concluded by urging Islamabad’s law-abiding citizens to cooperate with the police in ensuring peace.
PTI’s November 24 Protest Plans
It is important to note that PTI has called for a protest on November 24 in Islamabad. PTI leaders have claimed that preparations for the protest are in full swing, and they will not end the demonstration until their demands are met. The government and law enforcement authorities, meanwhile, continue to take strict measures to prevent the protest from disrupting the capital’s peace.
As tensions rise in the city, both the police and PTI appear to be gearing up for what is expected to be a highly charged political showdown.
