Serena Hotel Planners’ Role in Pushing Balochistan Toward Ruin Will Face Judgment of History: Maulana Abdul Wase
QUETTA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Balochistan Emir Senator Maulana Abdul Wase has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the province, saying citizens have been deprived of their basic constitutional and human right to live safely and peacefully.
He said the situation had reached a point where an ordinary citizen could no longer be certain of returning home safely after leaving in the morning. He alleged that Balochistan was effectively engulfed by insecurity, lawlessness and unrest, while inter-provincial highways and major national and regional routes had become deserted and unsafe.
Maulana Abdul Wase said criminal and terrorist elements were openly challenging the writ of the state. He alleged that the planners behind the “Serena Hotel” and forces operating behind them would also be held accountable by history for their role in pushing Balochistan toward its current crisis.
He said such planners had allegedly remained involved in policies aimed at weakening the province’s political, democratic and public authority, contributing to deprivation, unrest and instability.
According to the JUI leader, palace intrigues, non-transparent power arrangements and the repeated disregard for the public mandate had weakened government authority, undermined political institutions and damaged public confidence.
He said the current situation of unrest, uncertainty and fear had not emerged overnight but was the result of years of flawed policies, political engineering, ineffective governance and continued disregard for the rights of the people.
Maulana Abdul Wase also expressed concern that infrastructure and development foundations built through years of effort had suffered serious damage due to unrest and sabotage, warning that Balochistan was being pushed back toward an era of violence and uncertainty reminiscent of the 1990s.
He said those making decisions about Balochistan’s future while sitting in the Serena Hotel must understand that the province was not a “palace laboratory,” but home to millions of people who had the right to peace, dignity, employment, justice and political representation.
He stressed that Balochistan could not be stabilised through weapons, conspiracies or artificial political arrangements, but only through the Constitution, democracy, the public mandate, dialogue and justice.
The JUI Balochistan emir urged the state to abandon political engineering and non-transparent arrangements if it genuinely wanted peace in the province. He called for engagement with genuine representatives of the people, restoration of the writ of the government and making the protection of citizens’ lives and property the top priority.
Maulana Abdul Wase said JUI Balochistan would not leave the people alone during the current difficult period and would continue its struggle at every level for the protection of the province’s constitutional, political, democratic and fundamental rights.
