Trump Says 11 Aircraft Were Lost During India-Pakistan Conflict, Reiterates US Role in Ceasefire Efforts

Washington: US President Donald Trump has once again claimed that 11 aircraft were lost during last year’s military confrontation between Pakistan and India, while reiterating that US diplomatic efforts helped prevent further escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

Speaking to the American media, Trump said the conflict had reached a highly dangerous stage and that timely diplomatic engagement helped avert a potential nuclear confrontation.

According to Trump, approximately 30 million lives were safeguarded as a result of the ceasefire efforts. He also claimed that Pakistan’s prime minister had agreed with his assessment, saying that ending the conflict prevented a large-scale humanitarian catastrophe.

During the interview, Trump also discussed US domestic politics, stating that his approval among Israeli voters had once reached 99 percent. He added that he found it difficult to understand why any Jewish voter would support the Democratic Party.

Trump has repeatedly asserted that the United States played a significant role in facilitating the ceasefire between Pakistan and India and has previously referred to aircraft losses during the conflict.

His latest remarks have renewed political debate, with opposition parties in India, particularly Indian National Congress, continuing to cite Trump’s statements in their criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government.

Note: Trump’s claims regarding the number of aircraft lost and the extent of the US role in the ceasefire remain disputed. Indian officials have rejected assertions that the ceasefire was brokered by the United States, and there has been no independent public verification of the claim that 11 aircraft were destroyed during the conflict.
