Lasting Peace in Balochistan Requires Public-Security Cooperation, Says Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said lasting peace in the province can only be achieved through close cooperation between the public, the civil administration, and security forces, adding that no one would be allowed to disrupt the peaceful environment of Awaran district.
He made the remarks while addressing a tribal jirga held in Awaran, which he chaired. The gathering was attended by Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmad Khan, Member of the Provincial Assembly Khair Jan Baloch, tribal elders, political and social figures, women, students, and local residents.
Addressing the participants, Bugti praised the role of tribal elders and the local community in promoting peace, stability, and development in the region. He also paid tribute to the sacrifices made by civilians and security forces in the fight against terrorism.
The chief minister said the provincial government is introducing development projects in Awaran and is working jointly with security forces to improve basic public services, create employment opportunities, and enhance the welfare of people living in underdeveloped areas of the province.
He added that the government is giving special attention to the development of Awaran and the wider Makran Division, expressing confidence that these initiatives would help address many of the region’s longstanding challenges.
Bugti said projects being implemented under the Balochistan Sustainable Development Initiative (BSDI) have already brought noticeable improvements to the district. He added that the government is considering additional long-term development projects aimed at ensuring sustainable growth and improving living standards.
The chief minister commended tribal elders and local leaders for their contribution to maintaining law and order, describing the people of Awaran as peace-loving, aware, and committed to progress.
He reiterated that the government would not allow anyone to disturb the district’s peaceful atmosphere and vowed that operations against elements involved in violence and militancy would continue without discrimination.
During the jirga, MPA Khair Jan Baloch, tribal elders, and other participants appreciated the efforts of the Balochistan government and security forces in maintaining peace, protecting the public, and implementing development projects in the area.
Participants also raised questions and presented suggestions regarding local issues and public concerns. The chief minister responded to the queries and directed relevant officials to take immediate and effective measures to address the problems highlighted by residents.
