Flour Prices Surge in Quetta and Balochistan Amid Wheat Crisis

Quetta: Flour prices have sharply increased across Quetta and other parts of Balochistan due to an ongoing wheat crisis, causing serious difficulties for the public. The price of a 20-kilogram bag of flour has exceeded Rs 2,500 in Quetta and several other districts, while the price of 100 kilograms has risen by Rs 200 to Rs 300.

The continuous rise in prices has severely affected low-income families, who are struggling to afford basic food items. Market sources say that flour mills are unable to obtain sufficient wheat due to shortages and the lack of effective measures at the government level, leading to a steady increase in flour prices.

The failure of district administrations and the Food Department to control prices has further worsened the situation. Citizens complain that government negligence and mismanagement are forcing the public to bear the burden of inflation. In many areas, people can no longer afford to buy flour, while in some localities its supply has reportedly been disrupted altogether.

Public circles have urged the Chief Minister of Balochistan and concerned authorities to take immediate notice of the situation and implement practical steps to control flour prices, so that relief can be provided to the common people.
