Rs 56 Billion Cut in Balochistan Development Budget Draws Sharp Criticism, Calls for Immediate Review

Quetta – Senator Dinesh Kumar of the Balochistan Awami Party has expressed serious concern over the federal government’s decision to reduce Balochistan’s development budget by Rs 56 billion, calling it unfair treatment of an already underdeveloped province.
In a special interview with “UNA” news agency, he said that considering the ground realities and widespread underdevelopment in Balochistan, the province should have been allocated a significantly higher development budget this year. However, he noted with regret that the federal government has instead imposed a substantial cut.
According to him, the federal government has justified the reduction by citing the ongoing economic crisis in the country. However, Senator Dinesh Kumar strongly criticized this reasoning, terming it unacceptable for a backward province like Balochistan.
He said that the people of Balochistan are already struggling due to lack of basic facilities and widespread poverty, and such cuts in development funds will further worsen their economic hardships and deprivation.
The senator urged the federal government to immediately reconsider the decision and restore the full development allocation for Balochistan, emphasizing that the province deserves its rightful share for progress and stability.
