PTI Threatens Budget Session Boycott if Imran Khan Meeting Not Arranged, Says Barrister Gohar

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has warned that his party will boycott the budget session if a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan is not arranged by tomorrow.
Speaking during a session of the National Assembly, Barrister Gohar said that despite court orders, PTI leaders had been unable to meet the party founder for the past 34 weeks. He urged National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to issue a ruling on the matter.
Responding to the demand, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq stated that if Imran Khan were a member of the National Assembly, he would have issued production orders. He also remarked that the government had made three attempts to bring the government and opposition together for dialogue, but the opposition had not participated.
Later, while speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar criticized the federal budget, saying it would not be a people-friendly budget. He argued that inflation was already high and that the public deserved meaningful relief measures.
Addressing another question, the PTI chairman said that a single day of a parliamentary session costs more than Rs60 million and maintained that ensuring quorum is the responsibility of the government.
He further stated that it is the prime minister’s duty to attend Parliament, listen to public representatives, and respond to their concerns. According to Gohar, a genuinely democratic government would not ignore Parliament or its proceedings.
The PTI has yet to announce a final decision regarding participation in the ongoing budget session, pending developments on its demand for access to the party founder.
