Tomb of Hazrat Amir Hamza (RA), Known as “Sayed-ul-Shuhada,” Located in Uhud, Madinah

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) – The blessed resting place of Hazrat Amir Hamza ibn Abdul Muttalib (RA), titled “Sayed-ul-Shuhada” (Chief of Martyrs), is located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the city of Madinah, at the foothills of Mount Uhud. The site lies approximately 4 to 5 kilometers north of Masjid-e-Nabawi and is known as the Uhud battlefield area or the cemetery of the martyrs of Uhud.

Hazrat Amir Hamza (RA) was martyred during the Battle of Uhud and was buried in the same battlefield alongside nearly 70 other companions who also attained martyrdom in the same event. His grave is located within an enclosed area designated for the martyrs.

He was the paternal uncle of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) as well as his foster brother. Historical accounts state that the Prophet (PBUH) was deeply grieved at his martyrdom and shed tears of sorrow, and it is reported that the Prophet (PBUH) was never seen weeping so intensely for any other companion.

Due to his immense sacrifice, Hazrat Amir Hamza (RA) was bestowed with the noble titles “Sayed-ul-Shuhada” and “Asadullah wa Asad-ur-Rasool” (The Lion of Allah and the Lion of His Messenger).

Under the current policy of the Saudi government, construction of domes or large structures over graves is not permitted. Therefore, the site remains a simple and respectful graveyard enclosure with an iron fencing around it. Pilgrims visiting Madinah during Hajj or Umrah pay their respects, offer salutations, and recite prayers for the martyrs of Uhud, including Hazrat Amir Hamza (RA).
