Quetta–Sibi National Highway Expansion Project Completed

QUETTA (Qudrat News) – The expansion and rehabilitation project of the 160-kilometre Quetta–Sibi National Highway has been successfully completed, including widening of key road sections and expansion of two historic tunnels along the route.
According to General Manager National Highway Authority (NHA) Balochistan National Highway Authority Agha Inayat, the project was completed at a cost of Rs 1.8 billion.
He said that the highway was not only resurfaced and blacktopped but also 20 kilometres of critical sections, including Zard, Pir Panja, Panjar Bridge to Darbi, and Gokurt sections, were widened from 12 feet to 40 feet.
Agha Inayat further stated that two British-era tunnels near Dhadar were also expanded, allowing two large vehicles to pass simultaneously with ease.
He added that traffic congestion and frequent road closures in the Bolan area had long been a major issue; however, the widening of the highway is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce long traffic jams.
