PkMAP Rejects Hazara Province Resolution, Says Further Division of Pashtun Lands Unacceptable

Quetta (Daily Qudrat) — The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has strongly rejected the resolution presented in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly calling for the creation of a Hazara province, terming it an attempt to further divide an already divided Pashtun homeland.

In a statement issued by the party’s central secretariat, PkMAP said that the true strength and beauty of Pashtun lands lies in their diversity, where various ethnic groups, languages, and cultures have long coexisted and collectively defended the homeland. From Hazara to Gilgit, Chitral, Kohistan, and Baltistan, to the southern regions including Dera Ismail Khan, Kohat, and Peshawar’s surroundings, all communities — including Pashtuns and the Gujjar community — have contributed to the defense and development of the region.

The party emphasized that modern times demand respect, protection, and equal rights for all linguistic and cultural groups residing in Pashtun regions, including speakers of Hindko, Gilgiti, and Seraiki. PkMAP said that instead of promoting further divisions, the focus should be on developing a unified and prosperous Pashtun homeland.

The statement added that the party’s founding leader, Khan Shaheed Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai, consistently opposed the fragmentation of Pashtun lands during both British rule and the early years of Pakistan. PkMAP reaffirmed its commitment to his democratic and nationalist ideology, stressing that the unity of Pashtun regions and control over their resources is now a political necessity.

PkMAP demanded that the KP provincial government take immediate steps to protect and promote all mother languages spoken in the province, along with their cultures and traditions.

The party reiterated that it considers the Hazara province resolution harmful to national unity and pledged to continue its political struggle for a unified and empowered Pashtun homeland.
