Western Couple Frees Kasur Family from 130 Years of Bonded Labor, Says Report

Kasur: A foreign couple has reportedly freed a family in Kasur from generations of alleged debt bondage, bringing an end to what is being described as nearly 130 years of forced labor.
According to details, the affected family had been trapped under a heavy debt originally taken by an ancestor decades ago. Over time, the burden reportedly passed down through generations, forcing family members to work at brick kilns without wages under harsh and inhumane conditions. The debt is said to have continued increasing due to interest and financial pressure, preventing the family from escaping the cycle of bonded labor.
Sources claim that a Western couple visiting Pakistan recently learned about the family’s situation and decided to fully pay off their outstanding debt, effectively securing their release from bonded labor. Emotional scenes were reported at the moment of their liberation, including a family member embracing the foreign visitor in gratitude.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion on social media, where many users have praised the act as a powerful example of humanitarianism and compassion beyond borders, religion, and nationality. Others expressed regret that local support systems or influential individuals had not intervened earlier to help the family.
Some social media users also criticized systemic failures, calling the situation deeply concerning and urging authorities to take stronger action against bonded labor practices. They stressed the need for strict enforcement of laws to eliminate debt slavery and prevent future generations from suffering similar exploitation.
