Trump Rejects Senator’s Criticism, Praises Pakistan’s Role as “Excellent Mediator” in Iran Ceasefire Talks

ISLAMABAD: The United States President Donald Trump has once again praised Pakistan’s diplomatic role in facilitating ceasefire negotiations related to Iran, dismissing criticism from a senior American senator regarding Islamabad’s neutrality.
According to international media reports, President Trump, while speaking to journalists in China, reiterated that Pakistan played a significant and constructive role in potential diplomatic engagement between Iran and the United States.
He described Pakistan as an “excellent country” and lauded the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for their efforts in facilitating ceasefire-related diplomacy.
Trump’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions about Pakistan’s involvement as a mediator, which he has praised on multiple occasions in the past. However, this latest statement is being viewed as particularly significant due to its timing and tone.
Earlier, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally of Trump, had stated in a controversial remark that he does not consider Pakistan a neutral mediator in the Iran ceasefire process.
Although Trump did not directly name the senator in his latest comments, his strong endorsement of Pakistan’s diplomatic role is being interpreted as a clear dismissal of Graham’s criticism.
