Balochistan Food Authority Intensifies Crackdown on Unsafe Food Items; 4 Units Sealed, 25 Fined

Quetta – The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has intensified its province-wide campaign against the sale of substandard and hazardous food items, carrying out inspections across multiple districts.
According to officials, the crackdown resulted in the sealing of 4 food business units, fines imposed on 25 establishments, and issuance of 39 improvement notices to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

Quetta:
Inspections were conducted on Airport Road, Sariab Road, and Sariab Road surroundings, covering bakeries, restaurants, and trader warehouses. A warehouse was sealed after the discovery of substandard cold drinks, while a pizza outlet was shut down due to insect infestation and poor hygiene in its kitchen. A supermarket was also fined for selling expired cakes.
Gwadar:
On Airport Road, a café and four general stores were fined after expired spices, prohibited Chinese salt, and gutka were recovered during inspections.
Khuzdar:
Four wholesale dealers were penalized for selling expired biscuits and confectionery items. The expired products were also destroyed on the spot.
Dera Murad Jamali:
Two grocery stores were found selling banned gutka, while a bakery was fined for fake labeling and unhygienic conditions.
A spokesperson for the BFA stated that food business operators have been strictly directed to comply with food safety regulations and complete licensing requirements. Samples of various food items have also been collected and sent for laboratory testing.
