Two Suspected Militants Killed in Premature IED Blast in Panjgur, Another Killed in Kech Operation

Quetta: Security forces reported significant progress in separate counterterrorism operations in Balochistan’s Panjgur and Kech districts, where three suspected militants were killed.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), two suspected militants, allegedly linked to the banned group “Fitna al-Hindustan,” were killed in the Gwarago area’s Mortan village of Panjgur when an improvised explosive device (IED) they were allegedly planting on a public route detonated prematurely.
The military’s media wing said initial reports indicate the explosive device was intended to target civilians. However, the premature explosion foiled the alleged plot, and no civilian casualties were reported.
Following the incident, security forces and relevant authorities reached the site, secured the area, collected evidence, and conducted a search operation to check for additional explosive devices or other hazardous materials.
In a separate development, the Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan South carried out an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Sami area of Kech district following a tip-off.
According to the ISPR, an exchange of fire took place between security personnel and suspected militants during the operation, resulting in the death of one suspected militant.
Security forces later recovered weapons, ammunition, and other materials from the site and launched further investigations to identify the suspected militant network and its facilitators.
The ISPR said the operations are part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts aimed at eliminating militant threats, protecting civilians, and maintaining peace and stability in the region. It added that intelligence-based operations will continue across Balochistan, with enhanced surveillance and search operations to safeguard public places, highways, and sensitive installations.
