Sindh High Court Reinstates Grade-16 Officer After 22 Years, Orders Full Back Benefits

Karachi: The Sindh High Court has reinstated a Grade-16 government officer after 22 years, ordering the payment of all back benefits, including promotions and dues.
The court issued the ruling in the case of Babar Baloch, a former maintenance officer at Dawood Engineering College, who was dismissed from service in 2002 over six days of alleged absence.
According to details, Babar Baloch had challenged his termination, and after a prolonged legal battle, the case was referred back to the Sindh High Court by the Supreme Court in 2022.
The court observed that dismissal from service over a short absence period appeared unjustified and ordered his immediate reinstatement. It further directed authorities to grant all due promotions and financial benefits accrued over the 22-year period.
The lawyer representing the petitioner stated that the college had previously reinstated its principal despite similar allegations of absence, questioning the fairness of the dismissal. The Supreme Court had also expressed surprise over the inconsistent treatment of employees in the institution.
Following the verdict, the court ruled in favour of the petitioner, granting full relief and ordering compliance with all outstanding dues and service benefits.
