PTI’s Peshawar Rally: KP CM Sohail Afridi Announces Imminent Call for March to D-Chowk

Islamabad: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Sunday announced that he will “very soon” give a call for a march to D-Chowk, as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged a major power show in Peshawar.
Addressing the charged crowd, CM Afridi thanked workers for supporting him due to their loyalty to Imran Khan. As participants began chanting slogans demanding a march to D-Chowk, he responded, “I will very soon give the call for D-Chowk.”
Afridi criticized the federal government and institutions, saying, “Attempts are being made to build a narrative that PTI wants confrontation, but we have proven them wrong by following the Constitution and the law.” He announced a development package worth Rs 100 billion for Peshawar, including a 5,000-bed medical complex, expansion of the Ring Road, and new underpasses on GT Road.
He rejected claims of poor governance in KP, saying the province elected PTI for a third consecutive term due to its performance. “Where governance is absent, the IMF issues charge sheets. But we will not let anyone steal corruption money from the people.”
Afridi also hit back at allegations that KP is not serious about countering terrorism, insisting that inconsistent federal policies are to blame.
### Asad Qaiser Demands Opening of Afghan Border
Earlier, PTI senior leader and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser told the crowd that people had rejected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, yet he was brought to power. He accused “powerful circles” of depriving citizens of their right to vote.
He demanded that the Afghan border be opened immediately. Responding to slogans for D-Chowk, he said the workers’ wish “will soon come true.”
### Shafi Jan Demands Apology for Remarks Against CM Afridi
KP government spokesperson Shafi Jan said the chief minister was approaching “the people’s court” after exhausting all constitutional and legal means to meet Imran Khan. He demanded an apology for remarks made against Afridi, warning, “You will have to answer, and we will take that answer.”
He criticized the federal government for depriving KP of its rightful share in the NFC Award.
### Atif Khan: Our Leaders Jailed, Declared Security Risks
PTI leader Atif Khan said their electoral symbol was taken away and their seats “snatched.” He said leaders were imprisoned and labeled security threats, adding that this was not the first time political leaders were targeted.
He remarked, “It is not Imran Khan who is a security risk; it is the DG ISPR.”
### Junaid Akbar: Narrative Against Imran Khan Will Be Rejected
PTI KP President Junaid Akbar said any narrative against Imran Khan would be “thrown back at those spreading it.” He alleged the establishment was behind removing the PTI government and using violence, but PTI still chanted “Pakistan Zindabad.”
He pledged another massive rally soon to demonstrate public strength.
### Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar: Workers Demand March to D-Chowk
Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Pakistan leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar told the rally that workers were demanding a march to D-Chowk. He said Imran Khan was “making sacrifices for the country” and had empowered the new movement’s leaders to decide the next strategy.
He said popular leaders cannot be erased from public hearts “on someone’s orders,” and that the public never accepted the “security threat” narrative.
The Peshawar rally concluded with renewed calls for a march to D-Chowk and vows of continued resistance against what PTI leaders called unconstitutional actions.
