KP Facing Financial Burden of Rs150 Billion, Says Finance Adviser Muzammil Aslam

Peshawar: Muzammil Aslam, Finance Adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has stated that the province is currently facing a financial burden of approximately Rs150 billion.
In his remarks on federal revenues and provincial expenditures, he warned that a projected shortfall of Rs800 to Rs1,000 billion in federal tax collection during the current fiscal year could adversely impact the province’s financial position.
He further explained that a reduction of Rs180 billion in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), along with tax cuts, would result in a loss of around Rs120 billion for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These factors, he said, are likely to significantly increase the province’s financial challenges.
Providing a breakdown of expenditures, the adviser noted that the province has spent Rs10 billion on flood relief efforts and Rs15 billion on the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs). Additionally, Rs10 billion has been allocated for fuel subsidies for farmers, motorcycles, and buses.
Muzammil Aslam emphasized that the cumulative financial pressure on the province has now reached Rs150 billion and continues to grow.
