JD Vance Says Trump Seeking Comprehensive Iran Deal, Claims Progress in Pakistan-Mediated Talks

US Vice President JD Vance has said that President Donald Trump is seeking a comprehensive agreement with Iran that addresses all outstanding issues, including nuclear concerns and regional security.
Speaking to the media, Vance stated that the ceasefire with Iran is still holding and that negotiations are ongoing, marking what he described as the first high-level direct engagement between the two sides in decades. He said the talks were conducted in good faith and aimed at reaching a broad settlement rather than a limited arrangement.
Vance emphasized that Trump wants a “big deal” that prevents Iran from financing proxy groups and ensures that Tehran does not acquire nuclear weapons. He added that mutual distrust between the two countries cannot be resolved overnight, but noted that Iranian negotiators also appear interested in reaching an agreement.
He further claimed that significant progress has been made in talks mediated in Islamabad, crediting Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue. According to him, the current ceasefire remains intact due to the momentum created by these negotiations.
The US vice president said that discussions previously reached substantial progress but stalled over the issue of uranium enrichment and nuclear capabilities. He added that if Iran agrees to guarantees against weaponization, it could be integrated into the global economy.
Vance also remarked that it has been 49 years since such high-level engagement between the US and Iran, and noted that younger generations in the Middle East are increasingly questioning traditional policy approaches. He concluded that negotiations are continuing with the aim of reaching a deal that benefits global stability.
