US Vice President JD Vance Departs for Pakistan for Talks with Iran

Washington: US Vice President JD Vance has departed for Pakistan to participate in high-level negotiations aimed at ending tensions with Iran.

Speaking to the media before boarding his flight, Vance expressed optimism about the upcoming talks in Islamabad, saying he was traveling under directives from President Donald Trump. He noted that Washington has outlined clear guidelines for the negotiations and hopes for a positive outcome.

“Iran’s goodwill will be met with openness,” Vance said, adding, “but if there is any attempt to deceive, the United States will not respond positively.”

According to US media reports, Vance is accompanied by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, both of whom have previously been involved in indirect negotiations with Iranian counterparts.

The talks are expected to focus on key US concerns, including Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs, as well as its support for armed proxy groups in the Middle East.

The Islamabad negotiations are being closely watched globally, as they are seen as a critical step toward de-escalation and potential long-term stability in the region.
