Six Arab States Form United Front Against Iran, Demand Immediate Ceasefire

Riyadh: Rising tensions in the Middle East have taken a new turn as Saudi Arabia, along with Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan, issued a joint statement condemning Iran’s recent attacks as violations of their sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The six երկրների alliance declared that missile and drone strikes—whether carried out directly by Iran or through its proxies—constitute a clear breach of international law and the United Nations Charter. They called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, urging Tehran to halt all forms of aggression.

Strong Statement at the United Nations
During an emergency session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Saudi Arabia’s representative Abdulmohsen bin Khuthaila described the attacks as “cowardly,” emphasizing that targeting countries not directly involved in the conflict is unacceptable. He urged the international community to take immediate action, warning that silence is no longer an option.

Reference to UN Resolution
The joint communiqué also cited United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which calls on Iran to cease all threats and hostile actions against neighboring states. The statement specifically condemned attacks carried out by Iran-backed groups operating from Iraq.

Diplomatic Context
The development comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts led by United States and mediation attempts by Pakistan, Türkiye, and Egypt to bring the conflicting parties to negotiations.

However, the Arab states warned that targeting mediator countries or neutral parties undermines peace efforts and escalates regional instability, stressing their right to take necessary measures to ensure national security.
