UAE Announces Reduced Working Hours for Private Sector During Ramadan

Islamabad: The United Arab Emirates government has announced reduced working hours for the private sector during Ramadan to accommodate employees’ religious obligations.
According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, private sector employees will work two hours less daily during Ramadan. Companies are also permitted to introduce flexible arrangements based on the nature of their business, helping staff balance work with fasting while maintaining productivity throughout the holy month.
During Ramadan, public sector working hours will be from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm from Monday to Thursday, and from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Fridays. Reports indicate that up to 70% of staff may be allowed to work from home on Fridays, provided it complies with the Federal Authority’s approved regulations.
For employees working in shifts, individual institutions can adjust working hours according to operational requirements, ensuring both staff convenience and organizational productivity.
This adjustment in working hours is aimed at providing employees with more time for daily prayers, Iftar, and other religious activities during Ramadan.
