Voices Rise in India Against ‘No Handshake’ Policy Toward Pakistani Players

**Islamabad** – Criticism has begun emerging within India against the Indian cricket team’s reported policy of not shaking hands with Pakistani players before international matches, with some calling the move unethical and unnecessary.
Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar publicly criticized the decision, describing it as “extremely foolish” and unworthy of a country like India. In a statement posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Manjrekar questioned the appropriateness of initiating a “no handshake” tradition in international cricket.
According to Indian media reports, the policy has been followed in recent international fixtures and is also expected to be observed during the upcoming T20 World Cup match in Colombo between Pakistan and India.
The reported stance has drawn criticism not only internationally but also from within India, where many cricket fans and analysts argue that such actions go against the spirit of sportsmanship.
Following Manjrekar’s remarks, social media platforms saw renewed debate on the issue, with a large number of cricket supporters labeling the move contrary to the values and traditions of the game.
This ‘no shaking hands’ is such a silly thing that India has started. It’s unbecoming of a nation like ours. Either play properly within the spirit of the game or don’t play at all.
