Pakistan Seeks Strategic Economic Partnership with Saudi Arabia: PM Shehbaz
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said Pakistan wants to transform its economic relations with Saudi Arabia into a strategic economic partnership, emphasizing greater cooperation and investment between the two countries.
The prime minister made the remarks during a meeting with Prince Mansour, Chairman of the Saudi-Pakistan Joint Business Council. A high-level Saudi business delegation also accompanied the council chairman.
According to an official statement issued in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz conveyed his respect and best wishes for Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The meeting discussed opportunities for expanding economic cooperation and promoting investment between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Prince Mansour expressed interest in investment opportunities in agriculture, ports, highways and the outsourcing of airports. The Saudi delegation also showed interest in investment opportunities in real estate, energy, power distribution and the information technology sector.
Prime Minister Shehbaz said this was an ideal time to promote joint cooperation between the two countries through government-to-government (G2G) and business-to-business (B2B) initiatives.
Prince Mansour reaffirmed the Saudi government and business community’s interest in strengthening business ties with Pakistan.
The Saudi delegation is scheduled to hold meetings with several senior government officials and key private-sector stakeholders during its visit to Pakistan to explore further avenues for investment and economic cooperation.
