Power Division Orders Faster Processing of Pending Net Metering Applications

ISLAMABAD: The Power Division has issued important directives for the processing of net metering applications and decided to expedite the completion of pending cases.
According to the Power Division, all relevant institutions have been mobilized to clear the backlog of net metering applications. Distribution companies (DISCOs) and the Pakistan Information Technology Company (PITC) have been directed to immediately implement the instructions issued by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
Officials clarified that consumers who paid their demand notices before February 9, 2026, would have their applications considered in accordance with the applicable rules.
The Power Division said consumers who had completed the required formalities before the deadline, including payment of the demand notice, obtaining the net metering licence and replacing the meter, would not be subjected to unnecessary difficulties.
PITC has also been directed to review the billing system and relevant software for net metering connections. Authorities stressed that information regarding eligible connections should be updated in the system without delay.
The Power Division said the scrutiny of applications was not intended to create difficulties for consumers but to ensure that genuine and eligible pending cases were completed quickly.
It added that progress on net metering applications would be closely monitored across all DISCOs.
Consumers who completed all required procedures before the deadline have been advised to contact their respective DISCOs to check the current status of their applications and take timely action if any stage remains pending.
