Evidence Collected in Islamabad Mosque and Imambargah Suicide Attack

Islamabad — Law enforcement agencies have collected key evidence in connection with the suicide attack on a mosque and imambargah in Islamabad, police sources said on Saturday.
According to police, assistance was sought from the National Forensic Agency and NADRA to help gather and analyze evidence from the scene. Investigators revealed that the suicide bomber opened fire before carrying out the attack.
Police sources said the attacker fired two shots on the way to the mosque and then discharged another six rounds after entering the main hall of the mosque and imambargah. Empty bullet casings recovered from the site have been taken into custody as part of the investigation.
After the firing, the attacker moved into the mosque hall and detonated himself. Police said up to four kilograms of explosive material was used in the blast, with a large quantity of ball bearings included to maximize damage.
It is recalled that the suicide bombing at Imambargah and Masjid Khadijat-ul-Kubra in Islamabad’s Tarlai area on Friday claimed the lives of 32 people, while more than 150 others were injured. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with authorities examining all possible leads.
