Death Toll from Snowstorms in the US Rises to 38

WASHINGTON/NEW YORK:* A relentless series of snowstorms across the United States has claimed at least 38 lives in weather-related incidents, according to American media reports.
Dozens of states, including Washington and New York, continue to experience intermittent heavy snowfall, freezing rain and icy winds. Of the total fatalities, 10 deaths were reported in New York alone due to accidents linked to severe weather conditions.
Washington, DC, and other affected areas remain blanketed in snow, while federal offices stayed closed for a second consecutive day. Over the past two days, more than 16,000 flights were cancelled nationwide, causing major travel disruptions. Additionally, over 500,000 consumers remain without electricity.
Temperatures in northern states have dropped to record lows. US media reports indicate that temperatures are expected to remain below freezing until February 1.
Meanwhile, Canada is also facing intense snowfall. Toronto and southern parts of Ontario have been covered in snow, prompting authorities to close schools. Thousands of flights have been cancelled due to adverse weather, and officials have urged residents to stay indoors as conditions worsen.
